The NPC Mustangs took a step closer to an OK Silver title with 13-1 win over Kelloggsville. The game, originally scheduled for Monday because of rain, was moved to Cornerstone University on Tuesday.
The Mustang bats were big! The team pounded out 14 hits in 4 innings with 6 extra base hits (one double, three triples and two in-the-park homeruns).
Lead off hitter Ben Redfield led all hitters with a 4 for 4 game. Ben led off the game with a triple, homered in the 2nd and banged out a couple singles in the 3rd and 4th innings. He scored twice and drove in 3.
JD Dyksma also had a big night going 3 for 3 with two triples and a double, scoring twice and driving in 2.
Jason Tresh and CJ Curtis also had two hits in the game. Both scored twice and Tresh drove in 2.
Will Koehler pitched 4 2/3 innings to get the win, striking out 5 and giving up one earned run. Koehler also stroked an in-the-park homerun and drove in 3 runs. Koehler earned his third win of the season.
The Mustangs improved to 11-7 overall and 9-2 in the OK Silver. They can clinch at least a share of the OK Silver with a win at Kelloggsville tomorrow. They can win it outright if Calvin losses one game with Hopkins, who play a DH tomorrow.
