Mustangs News · Megan Schrock Gets 1000th Career Assist

Megan Schrock has been a setter for the Varsity Volleyball team since she was a sophomore.  Starting her senior season this year, Megan needed 396 more assists to reach her career goal of 1000.  That seems like a high number but when you have such a strong team behind you in passing and hitting, that number comes down quickly!

Coming into tonight’s conference match against Belding, Megan only needed 8 more to reach the goal.  The team came out with some strong serves, scoring 9 Aces in the 1st set and Megan was able to get 6 of the needed 8 assists.  In the second set, she got another assist with a kill from outside hitter, Annie Holesinger to put her at 999.  The Knights sided out the Mustangs and then EJ Zichterman took the pass on serve receive and gave the ball to Megan which allowed her to set up Middle Hitter and Senior,  Kaycee Sluiter for a deep kill to the right side of the court giving Megan her 1000th career assist.

I asked Megan what her thoughts were on this achievement and she shared:

“It’ has been an amazing ride for these three years on Varsity but this is definitely the peak!  It has been such an honor to play with this team and it has been a very special year as I’m surrounded by a wonderful group of girls and great coaches.  Thank you to my parents for being my biggest supporters and for giving me the opportunity to play this amazing sport.  Thank you to everyone who has been there to cheer me on!”

Congratulations Megan!

The team will be back in action on Saturday as they travel to Caledonia for an invitational.
