NorthPointe Christian and Lee High School played a taut affair on Monday, but NorthPointe eventually prevailed 21-6 after taking the lead for good in the sixth inning.
The Mustangs were down 6-5 in the top of the sixth inning when Sade Perez doubled off of A Haugen, driving in two runs. NorthPointe collected seven hits and Lee High School had four in the high-scoring affair.
NPC took an early lead in the first inning. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Lee High School tied things up at four. Mustangs went on to score ten runs in the seventh inning. The big inning was thanks to a walk by Mikayla Clementz, a walk by Alyssa Bennington, a single by Kaycee Sluiter, a walk by Lera Tebos, a walk by Ashley Bingel, a error, a walk by Sade Perez, and a single by Emily Clementz. Lee scored three runs in the fifth inning. Lee High School’s big inning was driven by a walk , a walk by Waller, and a error. Clementz led the Mustangs with four runs batted in.
In the second half of the double header, the two teams played to a draw and was eventually ended by darkness. NorthPointe captured the lead in the first inning. Alyssa Bennington singled on a 1-2 count in the first inning, scoring two runs. Bennington and Kaycee Sluiter each drove in two runs to lead NorthPointe Christian Mustangs Varsity. Lee tied the game on a groundout in the third inning. Lee High School collected seven hits.
