With the end of July fast approaching, we are starting to gear up for the fall season in Mustang athletics. Below, you will find a few reminders and notes about getting started. Should you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us at school or by email at email@example.com.

Startup for MIDDLE SCHOOL – Middle School practices will begin the first week of school, starting Tuesday, September 4th right after school. This is for 7th and 8th graders. If we do not get enough support in individual sports at the 56er level, we will permit 6th grade to play in the middle school sport offerings. Options in the fall for MS will be
Girls volleyball. Boys soccer. Coed Cross Country. Rocket Football – There is a fee for Rocket football. Follow this link for more information http://npcmustangs.com/hq/rocket-footbal/
56ers – We will again be participating in the GRACEAC league with our 5th and 6th grades. They offer soccer (boys) and volleyball (girls) in the fall. Rocket football (boys) is also available for this age level.
PARENTS of 5th and 6th Graders: Please email Scott Huckaby on your interest level for your son or daughter’s participation. We had technical issues for some accessing the Google survey from the spring. Email student name, grade, and his/her interest in a fall sport to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Sports Physicals – Reminder we will be offering sports physicals August 4th from at Spectrum Health at 4100 Lake Drive from 8 AM to noon. Cost is $10.00 and an MHSAA physical form is needed to be filled out prior to getting the physical. All information is available on our website at http://npcmustangs.com/2012/07/24/sports-physicals-are-coming/
Website – Our new website is www.npcmustangs.com. This will be “athletics central” for all of your athletic information needs. We are in process of getting schedules posted as well as on the www.highschoolsports.net site. Our ultimate goal will be to abandon the highschoolsports.net site. As we communicated last year, the MHSAA has entered into an agreement with ArbiterGame and will take the better part of this school year to get fully functional.

Writers and photographers – One of the key reasons for making a change to our new website was to ensure coverage for all sports. To make that happen, we will need people willing to be contributors as writers and photographers. Please contact the athletic office if you are willing to be a part of our website. Our coaches will also have a role in this process. This past spring, we had three or four key individuals willing to write up brief articles or a synopsis of games that greatly helped keep information current and relevant for our teams. Those taking photos at games are key to this as well. Please consider how you might be involved. It is a fairly simple process to be involved. Contact the athletic office.
Danielle Baldwin – We are again thrilled to have the services of certified trainer Danielle Baldwin in our partnership with Spectrum Health. I continue to be thankful for the value she brings to our athletic program from a safety and prevention angle with all of our athletes. She has been a great encouragement. If there are times where you have any questions or concerns with your son/daughter with a sports related injury, do not hesitate to contact her at school or by email at Danielle.Baldwin@spectrumhealth.org.
High School Sports vs. Arbiter Game vs. NPCMustangs site vs. MHSAA Website – This year will be one of transition with our way to communicate athletic schedules and practices. We continue to use a program called ScheduleStar that interfaces with www.highschoolsports.net site. It will show our game and practice schedules online at all times. That being said, they have made some significant changes over the summer to their site.
With that in mind, we will be spending time putting our current schedules on our www.npcmustangs.com site as well. This past spring, the two websites (HSS and NPCMUSTANGS) interfaced and automatically populated the NPC site. Right now, with these changes that have taken place, they are not doing that. Thus, we are manually entering schedules for the fall. They should be up and accurate within a week. We will also start learning and negotiating the new look to the MHSAA website which will work with ArbiterGame to put all of our schedules online.
Lots of information there, but at the end of the day, our objective is to utilize our own NPC site as the central point for communication while also utilizing the MHSAA site. It will interface with ArbiterGame as our primary web based avenue to get schedules out there and available as well. More to come…
Heat/Water/Hydration – With the heat we have experienced this summer, it is just a good reminder to make sure you son or daughter is hydrated ahead of coming to practices. Obviously, we will have water available at practices and games, but it is really critical to make sure they are drinking water ahead of any practices or games to ensure we don’t have anyone dehydrating or dealing with heat stroke. Hydrate early and often!!
Fall Parent Meeting – This will be for all parents of athletes in the fall season. It will take place on Tuesday, August 14th at 7 pm in the cafeteria. It will last about an hour. Please plan on attending this important communication opportunity in athletics and our Booster Club.
