The Maiden Voyage of Middle School tennis program is “in the books” and what a start it was!
Our first inaugural match against Kenowa Hills Middle School started with rain, but the middle school team got their first ever lesson on how to roll dry the eight tennis courts in 30 minutes…and the match even started on time!
The gale force winds pushed the players back and proved to be quite a challenge. The shots thought to be coming to you ended up in you face or in the next court. The wind would just stop the ball in flight, then sail it across the court. The middle schoolers handled it very well. It wasn’t quite the footwork they had worked on but it sure was entertaining, none-the-less!
The Mustangs won all but 3 of the18 matches. Lydia Soper partnered up with Emily Dakoske to play #1 for the girls and in the #2 position, Kelly Looman partnered up with Brittany Katerberg. Both teams never lost a game…16-0 for both teams.. The guys had impressive scores also. Austin Koenes and Ben Bradley played #1 doubles and only lost 4 games total. Looking at all the scores, the Mustangs played 144 games and won 116 of them and only lost 28 games all day.
That’s an impressive start. Such a great team to work with…Our Heavenly Father has blessed us with great talent. Lets keep it up Mustangs.
